County Tax Sale To Be Postponed

The sale of tax-delinquent properties in Washita County scheduled for next month has been postponed for up to one year.

The Board of Commissioners voted unanimously during their Monday, May 18 meeting to grant the request of County Treasurer Sherry Nightengale to postpone the sale until a later date. Her request was based upon the current COVID-19 pandemic and the governor’s accompanying declaration of a public health emergency.

The resolution passed by the commissioners allows for the sale to be postponed for up to one year. A new date for the sale was not included in the discussion or decision.
