Local Contractors Win Bids For Weatherford Schools

Two Washita County contractors have won bids to provide construction services on new elementary schools to be built in Weatherford. Igo Ditching and Backhoe Service of Bessie and Nurnberg Roofing LLC of Corn were awarded subcontracts by the project’s general contractor, Joe D. Hall Construction of Elk City.

According to project manager Van Storm, Igo Ditching and Backhoe will perform the utility work on the sites. The utility work includes the underground sewer, water, and storm drains on the properties. The contract is valued at $329,000. Nurnberg Roofing will provide the roofs on the new schools. That contract is valued at $1,726,730.

The contracts were awarded through a public competitive bid process, as required by Oklahoma law. The two firms were, according to Storm, the “lowest qualified bidders.”

“They came in with the right combination,” he said. “They’re good people, good contractors, and they’re low.”
