The Kiowa County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) and the Oklahoma Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (OKVOAD) have partnered together to host a Preparedness Expo on Saturday, March 7, at the Western Technology Center, 1000 South Bailey in Hobart from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The event is a coordinated effort among local, county and state preparedness partners, in an effort to connect local residents with resources to assist in planning for disasters and emergencies. This is also an opportunity to talk directly to emergency agencies, who will be discussing and demonstrating emergency preparedness, including: family fire escape plans, CPR awareness, legal questions, emergency kits, suicide prevention and many additional safety related topics.

The LEPC consists of emergency agencies, first responders, schools, utility and pipeline companies and public officials. The activities of this committee include maintenance of the county Emergency Operations Plan for natural disasters and chemical accidents, receiving chemical reports from subject facilities, and making that information available to the public. The LEPC will also work to build a coordinated planning effort with emergency response agencies.
The OKVOAD is an association of state organizations that mitigate and alleviate the impact of disasters, provides a forum promoting cooperation, communication, coordination and collaboration; and fosters more effective delivery of services to communities affected by disaster.
