Short-handed and on the road, the Cordell Blue Devils put up a valiant fight against the Tigers of Hollis, but came up on the short side of a 51-41 scoreboard.

The Blue Devils were without two starters in the game, missing Gaige Keister due to illness and Raydon Kuehne with an injury sustained in the game at Snyder during the previous week. The missing players didn’t prevent the Blue Devils from putting in maximum effort, as they stayed in the game all the way through, until the Tigers finally put it out of reach late in the fourth quarter.

Brady Reimer led Cordell scoring with 19 points, followed by Blaine Larsen with eight. Bode Gallagher and Dawson Willard each chipped in six in the effort.

“I thought we battled for being shorthanded,” said head coach Brandon Gallagher. “We really had a hard time scoring, they did a good job defending us. We have a little break coming up to hopefully get healthy and ready to go.”

The Blue Devils were off on Friday, Feb. 14, and took to the court again Tuesday, Feb. 18 against Frederick. They will travel to Walters for district tournament play Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21 and 22. They are scheduled to play Walters Friday and OCA Saturday, if they win.
