Gabby Giblet has taken her place among the greatest high school musicians in the state of Oklahoma. There is one unique characteristic when it comes to competing for the prestigious honor of being an All-State musician in Oklahoma. Students do not compete only within their school classification. All students from the entire state in all classes 2A through 6A all compete against each other. To earn the distinction of being an All-State musician you must compete against the entire state.
The All-State Band audition process starts in May when the first round audition music is posted. Auditions occur at about a dozen regions across the state. These auditions were held on November 9th. However, this is only the first round of auditions. Approximately half the musicians get eliminated during this round. Cordell had three students successfully pass on to the second round of auditions, Alex Thomison, Wyatt Earley, and Gabby Giblet.
At this point all the students from each region who move on to the second round of auditions must start completely over with entirely new, and more difficult, audition music. This time they are only afforded four weeks to prepare. On December 8th auditions began at 10:00am at Westmoore High School. Prelim auditions are held that morning where the field of auditions is again cut down by half. Results are posted between 2:00 and 4:00 at which time a third round of auditions takes place. Auditions finally finished around the 10:00 hour and results were posted. Gabby Gilbet earned a spot in the 2019 Oklahoma All-State Symphonic Band.
