Gene DeVern Reeves passed away in the home Saturday, Oct. 12. 2019.at the age of 86. He was born April 2, 1933, in Cordell.

Gene was the second of three children to J.R. and Dala Reeves. He attended Dill City High School and graduated in 1951. After graduation he attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, as well as working on the family farm. He enlisted in the army reserves in 1953 where he served in the 95th infantry division in Japan.

He met the love and sunshine of his life Patricia Green in 1957. They were married on Feb. 14, 1959. Gene and Patsy started their family in Dill City where he farmed.

Gene leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Patsy; son Rick and Vicki Reeves of Burns Flat; their children Misty and Brandon Duffy of Kingfisher, Ricky Reeves, Jr. of Burns Flat, and John and Ashley Reeves of Cordell; daughter Terri and Jeff Davis of Dill City; their children Toby and Rachel Davis of Dill City, and Karli Davis and Nathan Larsen of Cordell; daughter Staci and Buddy Bronn of Yukon; their children McKay Bronn of Oklahoma Ctiy, Liv Bronn of Yukon, and Turner Bronn of Yukon; eight great-grandchildren, Jayden, Chesni, Briggs, Rylee, Brylie, Hunter and C.J., sister-in-law Wilma Reeves of Dill City; brother-in-law Jay and Betty Green of Oklahoma City; sister-in-law Jacque Hadley of Eakly; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Gene is preceded in death by his parents J.R. and Dala Reeves; one brother, Dale Reeves; and one sister and brother-inlaw Janelle and Stanley Perkey.

Gene was considered a friend to so many with his forever young spirit that touched so many lives. He enjoyed playing golf and bowling in his spare time. He was known for his sense of humor and contagious laughter. He was a devoted servant to his church, Cumberland Presbyterian Church, however his role as a husband, father and grandfather is where Gene received the most pleasure.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday October 16, 2019 at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 2:00 pm., under the direction of Alternatives Cremation And Funeral Service of Cordell.
