Dill Work And Play September Meetings

The Dill Work and Play HCE met at the home of Jane Shull for a lunch and fellowship at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 12, 2019. They enjoyed an excellent meal and fabulous visit. Jane, Anna Prickett, and Louan Alford furnished the meal. Jane showed several cultural arts: a vase made out of sticks, a wooden chest she received when a friend passed, an angel from Pottery Barn, a Fostera bowl her parents had given her aunt at her marriage which she received when her aunt passed. It was a special day.

The Dill Work and Play met for a regular meeting after the county council HCE meeting Sept. 19, 2019, at 3:30 p.m. in the OSU meeting room. Vickie Werner and Wilma Gaightright furnished snacks. A devotional was given on being kind of each other.

The US flag salute was said and roll call answered with the question where is your favorite place to visit in Oklahoma. The minutes were read and a thank you note was read from Hope Closet for several pairs of shoes given by Dill Work and Play. It was also reported that Jane Shull and Louan Alford bought a few things for a new child that just came without any clothing. The Hope Closet is one of the Dill Work and Play projects.

Louan gave a treasurer’s report and Lowayne Piercey gave a 4-H report. The 4-H Bean Supper Carnival will be held Oct. 28 and she will have tickets at the next meeting.

A report was given on the Washita County Fair. It went very well and Dill Work an Play did an excellent job on entries. It was also reported that the silent auction at the fair for the fundraiser of the Washita County OHCE went very well. It was also reported that the county OHCE decided to try the silent auction next year.

Vickie showed two cards from many years ago that were hand-made with embroidery. Vickie gave the program about affordable and fun things for seniors to do in Oklahoma. She gave a good hint, advising attendees to start at the farthest distance and make stops on your way home so things will be open by the time you get to your destination. Also call and make sure of open hours. Vickie played a game where you name an Oklahoma town that sounds like a clue given. It was fun and got a lot of laughs.

The meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer. Members attending the September meetings were Jane Shull, Anna Prickett, Louan Alford, Darlene Moore, Wilma Alford, Vickie Werner, and Lowayne Piercey, with guest Kristy Spalding.
