Jane Shull led the flag salute. Emma Bingham gave a devotional about all shapes and sizes, using Ephesians 2:10, and led everyone singing a medley of patriotic songs. Jane played the piano and it was enjoyed by all.
The OHCE meeting started at 3:00 p.m. with Jane Shull welcoming everyone. We used the flag salute, devotional, and songs from the birthday party. Emma Bingham called roll, with seven members and one guest present, by asking each attendee what item they planned to enter in the Washita County fair. Betty Sparks helped serve at the party.
Louan Alford gave a treasurer’s report and collected money for projects.
The Washita County Children of Hope Closet was discussed and Lowayne Piercey made a motion to adopt them as one of our club projects. The motion passed. We will also have the Children Christmas Baskets. We plan to host the Baptist Village birthday party next year.
Jane went over the county newsletter. Much of the letter was information about water and ideas how to hydrate your brain. The July/August state newsletter was also discussed. The Washita County Fair is set for Aug. 21 - 24.
Members planning to help with the 4-H bib workshop were reminded it is July 19.
Emma and Lowayne gave a report on the OHCE state meeting held July 7-9 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in downtown Oklahoma City. They reported on the workshops they attended, OHCE programs and awards, and Lowayne Piercey received recognition for receiving WS District Heart of OHCE. Cultural art was shown by Lowayne. It was a state OHCE necklace and keychain give at the state meeting.
The meeting was held and fair judging standards were discussed and information handed out by Jane.
The entries and projects members plan to enter in the county fair were gone over and projects signed to enter.
