Cordell’s Camryn Nickel joined three other Oklahoma high school students on a scholarship tour of Washington, D.C. last month, sponsored by CK Energy. Jenny Hoyle and Caden Schaufele of Hobart High School and Baylee Doney of Fletcher were the other scholarship winners in the CK Energy service area.
The annual Rural Electric Cooperative Youth Tour began June 14, 2019, when the four CK winners joined 68 other scholarship recipients from Oklahoma’s rural electric cooperatives at a banquet in Oklahoma City. The group left for the nation’s capital June 15.
The foursome toured the city’s historic monuments, the United States Capitol, Arlington National Cemetery, the U.S. Holocaust Museum, the Pentagon, Mount Vernon, Ford’s Theatre, the National Aquarium, and the White House, among other stops. The group also hosted a summit for the members of Oklahoma’s congressional delegation, aides, and guests.
“CK Energy is rooted in the comunities we serve and we are committed to supporting our local youth by investing in worthy programs like the Youth Tour contest,” said communications director Lisa Willard.
