Clemency Denied for Richard Rojem

Oklahoma’s Pardon and Parole Board met on June 17, 2024 to determine whether they would recommend clemency for Richard Rojem, Jr, who was convicted and sentenced to death for the July 1984 kidnapping, rape and murder of his 7-year-old former stepdaughter, Layla Dawn Cummings, in Washita County.

When the Courthouse steps became worn, Washita County’s Board of Commissioners chose to return to the deep red color that graced the steps many years ago. Countless citizens expressed their happiness at seeing the crown jewel of Washita County decked out with the vibrant color once again.

Willing Workers hold June meeting

Willing Workers OHCE club met on June 6, 2024 at Renae Dodson’s house in Canute at 11:30.Amber Hall was hostess. Amber called the meeting to order at 11:35. Members led with flag salute and recided the County Creed.
