Beacon To Give Away $50 Per Week To Support Local Shopping

Small businesses are the beating heart of the U.S. economy, but with each passing year more and more of our small businesses go under. This year The Cordell Beacon will be launching our first-ever small business promotion, encouraging our readers to shop at local merchants and restaurants.

County Loses Ad Valorem Tax Appeal Lawsuit

The Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals last month reversed a Washita County District Court ruling and granted the ad valorem tax appeal lawsuit filed against the Washita County Assessor’s Office by Kast Trust Farms.

Diggs-Scowden Engagement

Billy and Roberta Diggs of Burns Flat are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Tracie Diggs, to Grant Scowden. Grant is the son of Steve and Traci Scowden of Poteau. Tracie will be graduating in December with a degree in psychology.
