Western Technology Center (WTC) hosts an annual Workforce Readiness Conference each year for enrolled full-time students. This conference provides students with the opportunity to make the connection between their training and employer expectations.

Students from three WTC campuses: Burns Flat, Sayre and Weatherford recently participated in this annual event on the Burns Flat campus. More than 450 students were able to participate in at least two Breakout Sessions and a General Employer Panel Session. The General Session concentrated on employers sharing practical job seeking and keeping skills with the students.

Breakout Sessions included: Strategies for Successful Interviews with Eddie Bennett, Weatherford Food Resource Center; Finding Employment in western Oklahoma with Frank Boswell, Workforce Oklahoma; Making it in the Media with Chad Roper and Shawn Wilson, Paragon Communications; Characteristics of Successful Women with Carolyn Heerwald, White Arrow; Leadership in the Workplace with Burl Stricker, Flying W Guest Ranch; College Prep with Western Oklahoma State College; What to Expect as a New Employee with WTC Human Resource Director, Serenna Hitter; and Overcoming Life’s Obstacles with Robbie Gilbert of Investment Professionals.

Western Technology Center is committed to “educating people for success” and its partnership with business and industry makes that happen!
