Washita County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee Meeting

The Washita County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee held a meeting Nov. 21, at 6:30 p.m. in the Farm Bureau meeting room in Cordell. Mary Peck called the meeting to order, the flag salute to the U.S. and Oklahoma flags were given.

Mary Peck gave a devotional, “Be Yourself.” Lowayne Piercey read the minutes from the October meeting. A report was given about the women who attended and helped with veterans’ programs.

A report was given on the state Fall Women’s Conference held Sept. 20, in Edmond. Charlene Thornbourgh, Emma Bingham, and Lowayne Piercey attended. Education and next year plans were made.

A report was given on the state meeting held Nov. 8-10 in Oklahoma City. Jordan Cook, Mary Peck, Emma, Charlene, and Lowayne attended this meeting. Monday was donated to the Ag Foundation and a silent auction item was donated. State Women’s Leadership luncheon meeting was held, resolutions session to set the programs for 2020, informational programs, and worship and memorial with Sen. Lankford were part of the activities. Washita County won a 4-Star trophy.

A report was given on the 4-H Bean Supper and Carnival. Everyone on the committee helped in some way with the event, and more than 475 people were served. A report was given on the sixth grade Ag Day, which was held Nov. 15. Washita County sixth grade students were presented with information and educaitonal programs on agriculture for sixth graders.

Jordan Cook and Nocona cook of Washita County were elected 2020 Young Farmer State Chairs. They will represent Washita County at the national meeting.

Plans were made for the Junior Livestock show to be held in February. The Farm Bureau will sponsor the Bread Giveaway, poster contest, photo contest, and Skill-A-Thon. They will also give away water, coffee, and hot chocolate. We plan to have an information booth to help in some form of the projects Farm Bureau has to offer.

Snacks will be collected for the Ronald McDonald House and the state capital vill be visited in May.

The meeting was dismissed and Mary gave a report to the county board.
