The Oklahoma State Department of Health reports that Washita County’s number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has jumped some again throughout the past week.

The total number testing positive in the county is now 887. It was 814 a week ago, an increase of 73, or 7 percent. Two weeks ago the number was 738 and three weeks ago it stood at 660.

Of the 887 cases, 782 have recovered, the OSDH said.

Cordell has reported 260 positive cases, the most in the county. Of those, 227 have recovered. Last week there were 238 positive cases. Of those, 200 had recovered.

Burns Flat, which had 114 a week ago, now has 126 positive cases, the second highest number in the county. Of those, 111 have recovered, the OSDH said.

Burns Flat also has one of the reported deaths in the county.

Canute has 113, up from the 105 last week and has the third highest number in the county. Sentinel has 96. Of the 113 cases in Canute, 100 have recovered and 85 have recovered in Sentinel.

Other communities in Washita County reporting positive cases and the number recovered include: Dill City 56 and 51; Rocky 31 and 23.

Statewide as of Monday, 335,247 have tested positive, there have been 2,775 deaths and 289,309 who have recovered. Active cases stand at 43,163 the OSDH said.

Last week there were 306,771 testing positive, there had been 2,552 deaths and 267,573 had recovered. There were 36,646 active cases a week ago.

This week on Monday, the OSDH reported 3,885 new positive cases confirmed and 14 additional deaths.

The OSDH reports more than 2.4 million people have tested negative.
