Washita County 4-Hers Share The Fun

Four 4-H Clubs including at least 70 4-H members from Washita County participated in the 4-H Share-the-Fun Talent Show, Wednesday, November 20 at the Burns Flat-Dill City (BFDC) High School. The BFDC Junior and Senior Clubs hosted the event with Jordan Mason emceeing. About 120 attended in total. The talent performed included a skit, piano, guitar, recorder, group singing, solos and tap dancing.

Canute and BFDC’s Cloverbud groups sang “Old MacDonald” and “Billy Bob” respectively. Brett Sturgeon BFDC sang “Fight Song” with hand motions. Cloverbuds were not ranked. They all received a ribbon and a Gold Fish snack with the message “Washita County o-FISH-ally has the BEST Cloverbuds”. The Junior division was for 3rd-6th graders and the Senior Division was for 7th-12th graders.

The following Junior Individuals performed: 1st Lyssa Day, BFDC, tap dance; 2nd Emma Ray, Cordell, recorder; 3rd Morgan Adams, BFDC, tap dance; 4th Libby Spence, BFDC, piano solo. The following Senior Individuals performed: 1st Marcie Diggs, BFDC, guitar/vocal solo; 2nd Haylee Davis, BFDC, horn solo. Marcie was the Champion Overall Individual.

The following Junior Small Groups performed: 1st Paislee, Payson and Paxon Tate, BFDC, singing “Jesus is our Guide”; 2nd Faith Schneberger & Aubrey Sturgeon, singing “God Bless the USA”; 3rd BFDC Juniors with “Baby Shark”. Jordan Mason and Marcie Diggs were the only Small Senior Group. They sang “What I’ve Been Looking For” together and was chosen as the best overall Small Group.

The following Junior Large Groups performed: 1st and Grand Champion Group Overall, BFDC 3-4 grade singing “Doin’ it for You”; 2nd BFDC 6th grade reciting “Laotzu”; 3rd Canute 4-H with a Thanksgiving Skit; 4th BFDC 6th grade singing “Lean on Me”. The BFDC Senior Large Group was 1st singing “Eye of the Tiger”.

The 4-H Share-the-Fun is a platform for youth to showcase a talent, build confidence in front of an audience and have a friendly competition with their peers. This event also involves cooperation with their group and working through technical difficulties and nervousness. Washita County 4-H provides many life skill building events.
