Two vehicle accident east of Cordell kills Clinton man

A fatality collison on the afternoon of July 13th killed a Clinton man and injured two others. The accident happened at the intersection of highways OK-152 and OK-54N approximately 13 miles east of Cordell in Washita county.

According to the report by OHP, a 2017 Hyundai Tucson driven by Timothy Ray Townsend, age 65 of Clinton, was traveling eastbound when it attempted to make an improper turn into a westbound turning lane.

The Hyundai turned into the path of a westbound 2015 Ford F150 pickup driven by Skyler Joe McCuistion, age 36 of Elk City.

Both vehicles departed the roadway to the right and came to rest. The driver of the Ford pickup was partially ejected through the passenger side windshield.

Passengers in the Ford, Spencer Tew, age 33 of Elk City and James Williams, age 20 of Dill City were transported by ambulance to Great Plains Regional Hospital in Elk City and to Weatherford Regional Hospital, respectively, where they were treated and released.

Skyler McCuistion was transported by ambulance to Great Plains Regional Hospital in Elk City where he was also treated and released. Timothy Townsend was pronounced dead at the scene.

Seatbelts were in use by the driver and one passenger of the Ford and were equipped but not in use by the driver of the Hyundai.

The accident was investigated by Trooper #804, Pate Gossen assisted by Troopers Trent Keasler, Kyle Johnson and Thomas Setter.

The Washita County Sheriff’s Department was on the scene along with emergency responders from Corn Fire Department, Colony Fire Department, Lifeguard EMS, Carnegie EMS and Weatherford Fire Department.
