480 votes were cast in the Cordell Public Schools Board of Education Primary Election. Three candidates, Randi Hunter, Dale Selman, and Nocona Cook were vying for the seat of Office No. 5.
Incumbent Nocona Cook received 112 votes, Randi Hunter received 141 votes, and Dale Selman received 227 votes. No candidate garnered more than 50%, so Hunter and Selman will go on to the General Election on April 1st.
Cook stated “Thank you to everyone that voted for me and supported me through this school board race. I truly appreciate each of you. It didn’t turn out the way I had hoped but the people have spoken, and I respect that. Congratulations to Dale Selman and Randi Hunter, and good luck in the runoff in April.
Looking forward to April’s election, Selman said “I would like to take the opportunity to say Thank You to all of my supporters for your vote and ask that you all show up one more time April 1st for the general election. I’m flattered by the number of votes received Feb 11th. We were about 20 votes from winning the 3-way election outright, which is amazing! But we can’t afford to take a W for granted in the general election. This outcome seems to have prompted the shift in Cordell schools’ immediate future already. I’d like to remind everyone to remain positive through this process. We’re still friends, family, and community above all.”
Hunter followed with “I want to sincerely thank everyone who participated in the recent election and express my heartfelt gratitude to those who voted for me in the Cordell School Board race. Your support means so much. As we move on to the primary election on April 1, I would be honored to have your vote once again as we look forward to building a brighter future for Cordell schools. I am eager to work together to make our schools an incredible place once more for our students, teachers, and parents. Thank you for believing in the vision for our community’s children!”
