Cordell Public Schools may soon be imposing a limit on the number of fundraisers being held at school activities and events. The school board, during its Monday, Sept. 9, 2019, meeting, instructed superintendent Brad Overton to draft a policy to limit the number of organizations fundraising during each event, including a means by which the organizations would be scheduled for those events.

Overton brought up the issue during the board meeting, citing concerns that too many organizations were fundraising at the same events, which was not only making it difficult for students and spectators to get in and out of the venues, but was also putting the different organizations at odds with each other for a limited pool of funds.

The board members and Overton agreed it was important to allow organizations to fundraise at school events, but it needed to be managed in a more efficient and organized manner.
