A spokersperson for the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation has confirmed the agency has been called in to assist the Clinton Police Department in the investigation of a double homicide over the weekend.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019, Clinton police responded to reports of gunshots at an apartment complex in the 300 block of South Sixth Street, according to a statement from Clinton Police Chief Paul Rinkel’s office. Upon arrival, officers found the bodies of two Clinton residents, 24-year-old Gabrielle Hawthorn and 25-year-old DeShawn Wooden, both dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

The department immediately requested Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation assistance with both the crime scene and the criminal investigation. Chief Rinkel’s statement indicated the investigation was ongoing and asked for the public’s assistance. As of Monday, Nov. 11, 2019, no suspects were named or in custody.
