Cordell Nurse Practioner and Rancher Darrell Hill recently experienced a ‘one-in-a-million’ find when he discovered that one of his heifers had given birth to a rare albino calf. Albino traits are snow white fur and pink eyes, ears, and nose. Though the calf is healthy, albinism has its challenges. Oklahoma heat and sun can damage the animal’s delicate skin and its eyesight is likely to be poor. In Native American lore, a white calf is an omen of hope and prosperity and is considered a sign that good times are about to happen.

Fittingly, this calf’s name is Hope, and she was born on Easter weekend.
