Last week Cordell’s Code Blue gym hosted members of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s Emergency Response Team for a workout session. The team traveled from the training facility in Burns Flat in order to work out together.
Emergency Response Team leader Tanner Keasler said the OHP conducts a variety of training operations at their Burns Flat facility, including driver training, grenadier (non-lethal response) training, and post-pursuit and vehicle take-down training. He said he likes to get his team together after the formal trainings for a group workout to not only help with their physical fitness, but also their team camaraderie.
Keasler said the idea to travel to Cordell for the workout grew out of a conversation between one of his men, Kyle Borden, and Code Blue owner Jason Dudgeon. Borden met Dudgeon through the circuit of CrossFit competitions and together they decided to put a workout session together at Code Blue. They felt having a workout in Cordell would be a nice change of venue for the team.
“We really appreciate Code Blue for doing that workout,” Keasler said. “They passed up on the opportunity to make $700 or $800 to let us work out in their gym, and we really appreciate it.”
