Cordell’s Market Street Deli & More is expanding its business hours and menu offerings, making the transition from a lunch-time sandwich and salad stop to a full-service lunch and dinner destination. They’ve also added shaved ice and rolled ice cream, under the name of The Hawaiian Cactus, to help keep customers cool in heat of the summer.
Business owner Jennifer Cary said she made the decision to expand in order to provide more food and refreshment options to the people of the greater Cordell area.
“We wanted to bring something to the area that really wasn’t here before,” she said. “Rolled ice cream is very popular around the state and around the country, so we thought it would be a big hit here in Cordell. As we thought about expanding to accommodate that, we decided to make the jump to a full-service menu and expand our hours and seating to make Market Street a full-service restaurant.”
Cary is slowly phasing out her retail merchandise lines that were available at the store, as she fills the open spaces with additional tables and chairs to accommodate more guests in the restaurant. She is currently working on new menus for both lunch and dinner, with an eye toward expanding into breakfast in the very near future.
“I’m really excited about where this is going,” she said. “The people of Cordell have been very supportive of Hawaiian Cactus shaved ice, so I’m sure they’re going to love the rolled ice cream option.”
Market Street is now open Tuesday through Friday, from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., soon to be expanding into weekend hours.
