The number of people in Washita County testing positive for COVID-19 has topped the century mark during the past week, but the number of new cases has slowed some.

The total number testing positive in the county is now 101 and it stood at 86 a week ago. That’s an increase of 15 over last week. Two weeks ago the number was 64 and three weeks ago it was 46.

Still, as of Monday of this week, no deaths attributed to the virus have been reported in Washita County, according to the Oklahoma State Health Department .

On Aug. 21, the number of people testing positive in Washita County stood at 37, meaning the number has nearly tripled in around the last six weeks or so.

Of the 101 positive cases, 68 have recovered, the OSDH said.

Cordell has reported 27 positive cases, the most in the county. Of those, 19 have recovered. Last week there were 22 positive cases. Of those, 12 had recovered.

Canute and Sentinel now have the second highest number of cases in the county. Each has 15. Last week Canute had 10 and Sentinel had 12.

Of the 15 in Canute, 7 have recovered. In Sentinel, 7 of the 15 also have recovered.

Burns Flat, which for the last couple of weeks had recorded the second highest total number of positive cases with 14, still has 14. All 14 have recovered, OSDH said.

Other communities in Washita County reporting positive cases and the number recovered include: Dill City 9 and 7; Rocky 1 and 1.

Statewide the number of positive cases has climbed to 91,982. Last week the number was 85,194. There have been 1,055 who have died in Oklahoma due to the virus. A week ago, 1,007 deaths had been attributed to the virus, the OSDH said.

The number of positives was 70,223 three weeks ago with 853 reported deaths caused by the virus at that time, according to OSDH.

As of Monday, there were 12,772 active cases throughout the state and that number was 13,379 at the same time a week ago.

There have been 78,155 who have recovered from the virus in Oklahoma, up from the 70,808 last week. On Monday, the OSDH reported 665 new cases and three new deaths.

There have been 1,157,074 people in the state who have tested negative, according to the OSDH.
