The number of people in Washita County testing positive for COVID-19 has continued to rise some during the past week, the Oklahoma State Health Department reported.

The total number testing positive in the county is now 154 and a week ago it stood at 128, an increase of 26 over a week ago. Two weeks ago the number was 101 and three weeks ago it was 86.

Still, as of Monday of this week, no deaths attributed to the virus have been reported in Washita County, according to the OSDH.

On Aug. 21, the number of people testing positive in Washita County stood at 37, meaning the number has quadrupled over the last two months or so.

Of the 154 positive cases, 109 have recovered, the OSDH said.

Cordell has reported 42 positive cases, the most in the county. Of those, 29 have recovered. Last week there were 32 positive cases. Of those, 23 had recovered.

Burns Flat, which had 23 a week ago, now has 25, the second highest number in the county. Of those, 15 have recovered, OSDH said.

Canute now has 23 and Sentinel 16. Last week Canute had 20. Of the 23 in Canute, 14 have recovered and all 16 have recovered in Sentinel.

Other communities in Washita County reporting positive cases and the number recovered include: Dill City 9 and 9; Rocky 9 and 2.

Statewide the number of positive cases has climbed to 108,073. Last week the number was 101,184. There have been 1,173 who have died in Oklahoma due to the virus. A week ago, 1,104 deaths had been attributed to the virus, the OSDH said.

The number of positives was 70,223 five weeks ago with 853 reported deaths caused by the virus at that time, according to OSDH.

As of Monday, there were 14,533 active cases throughout the state and that number was 13,816 at the same time a week ago.

There have been 92,367 who have recovered from the virus in Oklahoma, up from the 85,265 last week. On Monday, the OSDH reported 774 new cases and two new deaths.

There have been 1,327,512 people in the state who have tested negative, according to the OSDH.
