The number of people in Washita County testing positive for COVID-19 now stands at 86 and that’s an increase of 22 over a week ago. Last week the number was 64. Two weeks ago it was 46.

Still, as of Monday of this week, no deaths attributed to the virus have been reported in Washita County, according to the Oklahoma State Health Department. .

On Aug. 21, the number of people testing positive in Washita County stood at 37, meaning the number has more than doubled in around the last five weeks.

Of the 86 positive cases, 47 have recovered, the OSDH said.

Cordell has reported 22 positive cases, the most in the county. Of those, 12 have recovered. Last week there were 15 positive cases. Of those, 11 had recovered.

Burns Flat still has recorded the second highest total number of positive cases with 14 and that number is the same as last week. Of those, 12 have recovered, the OSDH reports and 11 of those had recovered a week ago.

Other communities in Washita County reporting positive cases and the number recovered include: Dill City 9 and 5; Sentinel 12 and 5; Canute 10 and 3; Rocky 1 and 1. Last week, Canute had 3 positives and 2 had recovered.

Statewide the number of positive cases has climbed to 85,194. Last week the number was 77,908. There have been 1,007 who have died in Oklahoma due to the virus. A week ago, 948 deaths had been attributed to the virus, the OSDH said.

The number of positives was 70,223 two weeks ago with 853 reported deaths caused by the virus at that time, according to OSDH.

As of Monday, there were 13,379 active cases throughout the state and that number was 12,019 at the same time a week ago.

There have been 70,808 who have recovered from the virus in Oklahoma, up from the 64,941 last week. On Monday, the OSDH reported 861 new cases and one new death.

There have been 1,075,475 people in the state who have tested negative, according to the OSDH.
