Canute 4-H hosted the Washita County 4-H Speech Contest on Friday, April 30 at the Canute Elementary School.
Forty 4-H members gave speeches in various divisions. There were 14 Cloverbuds who presented their speech and received a green participation ribbon and certificate.
In the Junior 4-H Division Regular Speeches, Paislee Tate of Burns Flat-Dill City placed 1st, HB Wright of Canute placed 2nd, and Sara Misener placed 3rd.
In the Famous Person category Bailey Gossen of Cordell placed 1st and Ruth Moser of Cordell placed 2nd.
Illustrated Speech or Demonstration winners were Bentlee Lester of Sentinel placing 1st, Abigail Sirmon of Burns Flat-Dill City placing 2nd, and Korben Gossen of Cordell placing 3rd
. Braxton Barnett of Burns Flat-Dill City placed 1st in the Digital Presentation category.
Bentlee Lester of Sentinel won Overall Champion Junior Speaker and Abigail Sirmon of Burns Flat-Dill City won Reserve Champion Junior Speaker. There were nine Junior competitors.
The Intermediate 4-H Division consisted of six competitors.
Carson Galmore of Canute placed 1st in the Famous Person category.
Zada Baker of Sentinel placed 1st in Illustrated Speech or Demonstration category, Gunther Claunch of Sentinel placed 2nd, and Evie Denny of Burns Flat-Dill City placed 3rd.
Kathryn Sirmon of Burns Flat-Dill City placed 1st in the Digital Presentation category and Brance Barnett of Burns Flat-Dill City placed 2nd.
The Overall Champion Intermediate Speaker was Kathryn Sirmon of Burns Flat-Dill City and Reserve Champion Intermediate Speaker was Brance Barnett of Burns Flat-Dill City.
The Senior 4-H Division had one entry, placing Joey Mooney of Burns Flat-Dill City 1st and Overall Champion Speaker in the Senior Division.
