Hospital’s Annual Health Fair Set For October 15, 16, 17

Next week Cordell Memorial Hospital will celebrate its 30th anniversary with the annual health fair and open house. The event will be open from 7:30 a.m. until noon on Oct. 15, 16, and 17, at Cordell Memorial Hospital.

The health fair will feature information booths on a wide variety of health and wellness-related topics, including home health, Medicare, Air Evac, hospice care, senior living, and nursing home care. Additionally, the hospital will be offering a number of screening tests at significantly discounted rates.

“It’s part of our mission to provide quality health care to the residents of Washita County,” Cordell Memorial Hospital CEO said. “Every year we have individuals take advantage of these reduced-cost tests who are found to have previously undiagnosed health issues. Many lives have been saved because people took advantage of these tests.”

One of the most important tests is the Chem 25 blood test. It checks for a host of conditions, including cholesterol and glucose problems. For this test, a 12-hour fast is recommended.

Additional discounted tests being offered include screening for prostate cancer in men and ovarian cancer in women, and various tests for colorectal cancer, iron and vitamin deficiencies, bone density, thyroid, and heart and lung conditions. Results of the tests can be picked up at the hospital when ready or can be mailed to patients who provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope at the time of testing.

Appointments for the discounted tests are not necessary, but can be made by calling the hospital at 580.832.3339 Ext. 0. The hospital will only accept cash or checks during the health fair, they will not be able to process credit or debit cards.
