Fire Department Brings Halloween To Life

The Cordell Volunteer Fire Association has brought Halloween to life again, with the opening of The Horror Hotel in Cordell this past weekend.

The Horror Hotel is an award-winning haunted house that draws visitors from all over western Oklahoma to Cordell for a great spooky adventure.

Beyond the thrills and chills, however, the Horror Hotel serves another purpose. It’s a fundraising event for Cordell’s fire department. Funds raised at the Horror Hotel are used to help the fire department purchase and maintain the fire gear necessary for them to operate in as safe of an environment as possible while protecting the citizens and property of Cordell.

“We’re a small fire department in a rural town, so it’s always a challenge to buy and maintain our equipment,” said Cordell firefighter Jason Dudgeon. “This is one way we can raise money and help give something fun back to the community we serve.”

The Horror Hotel will be open Friday, Oct. 25 through Sunday, Oct. 27, from 8:00 p.m. until the last patrons are through the house. It will open again on Halloween night, Oct. 31, beginning at 9:00 p.m. Admission to the Horror Hotel is $10 per person. All children coming to the Horror Hotel must be able to walk on their own, and infants are not allowed.
