Dill Work and Play OHCE holds March meeting

The Dill Work and Play met March 12, 2024 in Elk City in the home of Wilma Gathright. Jane Shull called the meeting to order at 1:30 with a welcome to everyone. Anna Pricket led the group saying the Pledge and led the song Dixie Land.

Emma Bingham gave he devotion, Fellowship, using 1 John 1:1-7. Emma called roll with 5 members answering with “What is your favorite kind of bread?” Emma read the minutes from the last meeting and they were approved.

Anna gave the Treasures report and collected money for projects. Wilma gave a Parliamentarian Point.

Reports were given Anna, Jane, Emma, and Lowayne are planning on going to District meeting March 18 and 19. The meeting will be held in Hydro, OK, and a tour of the Stafford Museum in Weatherford, OK.

Jane went over the Washita County News Letter: Washing dishes in the dishwasher is actually cheaper than washing by hand. It gave encouragement to not over use Acetaminophen.

Washita County, County Council will be held March 14, in the OSU Office in Cordell. She also called attention to the State newsletter.

Lowayne Piercey gave a 4-H report: The 4-H will collect personal items for the County Nursing Homes thru April 12. OHCE members and anyone can take items to the OSU office anytime between now and April 12.

The 4-H Impressive Dress and Dress Review will be held March 26 at Sentinel. The JR Livestock Show was held at the Washita County Fair Grounds February 25,26, and 27.

Poster (110) and Photo (31) contest and was held for FFA and 4-H members. The Washita County OHCE groups made 190 tooth pillows and they will be given after the County Council. Jane, Emma and Lowayne helped make pillows.

Wilma gave the program on Sourdough Biscuits and Flatbreads. She gave a handout with some history and many recipes with breads.

Wilma showed several cultural arts: a Shawl she made for her Granddaughter, a dresser scarf, a knitted blanket, a neck scarf, and 8 pairs of hot pads. Wilma gave a door prize of a set of hot pads won by Lowayne. Wilma closed the program by leading the Lord’s Prayer.

Wilma Gathright served refreshments to Jane Shull, Anna Prickett, Emma Bingham and Lowayne Piercey. She served two types of flatbreads, delicious white bread and jelly and out of this world cinnamon rolls. Great visitation was held.
