The Washita County 4-H held a Cupcake Wars competition on Monday, May 24th at the Washita County Activity Center in Cordell. Fourteen 4-H members brought unfrosted, undecorated cupcakes, frosting and a variety of decorating supplies including bags and tips, sprinkles, candy, etc. The participants were split up into three divisions: Junior, Intermediate, and Senior, with option of entering as a two-person team.
The decorators came into the contest with a theme and design for their cupcakes planned out. Each decorator/team was given 30 minutes for decorating three cupcakes. Then the decorators gave a presentation about their cupcakes and the judges asked questions. This event encourages creativity, decision-making and time management, as well as presentation and communication skills.

Intermediate division: 1st place Brance Barnett & Kathryn Sirmon, Burns Flat-Dill City Senior, 2nd place Denton Cook & Delainee Moore, Cordell Junior, and 3rd place Alex Misener - Canute.
In the Senior division: 1st place Joey Mooney – Burns Flat-Dill City Senior.
