The Oklahoma State Department of Health reports that Washita County’s number of positive COVID-19 cases has continued to climb through the past week.

The total number testing positive in the county is now 437. It was 334 a week ago, an increase of 103 over last week. Two weeks ago the number was 274 and three weeks ago it was 220.

The number of people testing positive in Washita County in late August stood at 37.

Of the 437 cases, 307 have recovered, the OSDH said.

Cordell has reported 141 positive cases, the most in the county. Of those, 99 have recovered. Last week there were 110 positive cases. Of those, 64 had recovered.

Burns Flat, which had 47 a week ago, now has 55, the third highest number in the county. Of those, 48 have recovered, OSDH said.

Burns Flat also has one of the reported deaths in the county.

Canute has 68, up from the 50 last week and has the second highest number in the county. Sentinel has 41. Of the 68 in Canute, 40 have recovered and 25 have recovered in Sentinel.

Other communities in Washita County reporting positive cases and the number recovered include: Dill City 18 and 14; Rocky 20 and 15.

Statewide as of Monday, 197,745 have tested positive, there have been 1,743 deaths and 163,726 who have recovered. Active cases stood at 32,275 the

OSDH said.

Last week there were 177,974 testing positive, there had been 1,649 deaths and 142,381 had recovered. There were 33,844 active cases a week ago.

This week on Monday, the OSDH reported more than 2,200 new positive cases confirmed and seven additional deaths.

The OSDH reports more than 1,873,468 have tested negative.
