County COVID-19 numbers slow over past week

Washita County’s number of new positive COVID-19 cases has slowed substantially over the past week, figures from the Oklahoma State Department of Health show.

The total number testing positive in the county is now 1,057. It was 1,054 a week ago, an increase of only three over last week. Two weeks ago the number was 1,050 and three weeks ago it stood at 1,043.

Of the 1,057 cases, 1,020 have recovered, the OSDH said.

Of the positive cases, Cordell has the most with 324. Of the 324, there have been 314 who have recovered. Last week there were 323 positive cases. Of those, 313 had recovered.

Burns Flat, which had 143 positive cases a week ago, has the same number this week. It has the second highest number in the county. Of those, 138 have recovered, the OSDH said.

Burns Flat also has one of the reported deaths in the county.

Canute has 133. The number last week was 132. It has the third highest number in the county. Sentinel has 110. Of the 133 in Canute, 126 have recovered and 107 have recovered in Sentinel.

Sentinel also has one of the deaths in the county attributed to COVID-19, the OSDH reports.

Other communities in Washita County reporting positive cases and the number recovered include: Dill City 64 and 63; Rocky 37 and 36.

Statewide as of Monday,429,162 people have tested positive, there have been 4,534 deaths and 412,590 who have recovered. Active cases stand at 12,038, the OSDH said.

Last week there were 424,888 testing positive, there had been 4,478 deaths and 407,665 had recovered. There were 12,745 active cases a week ago.

This week on Monday, the OSDH reported 165 new positive cases confirmed and 17 additional deaths.

The OSDH reports more than 3.1 million people have tested negative.
