Cordell Youth Gives Birthday Money to Fire Department

An 11-year-old Cordell girl flipped the switch on her birthday and decided to give a present. Alee Syfert, daughter of Heath and Lena Syfert, pooled up the money she’d been given as birthday presents and donated it all, $300, to the Cordell Fire Department. Alee’s father, Heath, is a volunteer firefighter with the department.

Young Syfert also helped the fire department during the annual Fill The Boot drive to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. According to fire chief Seth Slaughterback she spent about four hours working the intersection with firefighters.

“The Cordell Fire Deparment is humbled that a young girl would feel the way she does about our organization and we are greatly appreciative of it,” said Cordell firefighter Jason Dudgeon. “The funnest part of our job is interacting with all of the kids in our community.”
