The first meeting of the 2021-22 year of the Cordell Academic Foundation was held at noon on August 17, 2021, in the conference room of the Atlas Abstract office.
A delicious lunch of chicken salad croissants, ham sandwiches, pasta salad, and homemade sugar cookies was provided by Karen Wedel and Hilda Humphrey.
Misty Gossen Began the meeting by welcoming everyone. The first order of business was the election of officers for the year. Those elected were Misty Gossen, President; Karen Wedel, Vice-President; Pat Emerson, secretary; and Randi Hunter, treasurer.
The next order of business was the discussion of the annual fundraiser. The decision to offer a meat package from Mike’s Meats was chosen and preparations for the are underway.
The main purpose of the academic foundation is to assist in the education of Cordell school students. One way that this is done is by providing grants to teachers to help with projects that are not funded by the school.
Eight teachers applied for and were given grants for this year. Most of the materials for these have been ordered and delivered.
The School Supply Project is directed by Brooke Dodd who does a tremendous job of fundraising, ordering, and delivering to the classrooms the supplies needed for each elementary student. This is a big help to both the teachers and the parents. If you benefited from the project, please express your appreciation to her.
Everyone interested in the education of the students in Cordell Schools is invited to join the academic foundation.
Meetings are on the second Tuesday of the month at noon in the Atlas Abstract office. Lunch is provided by members of the group and the meetings are usually through by 1 p.m.
