Last week the Cordell community turned out in support of the Cordell Fire Department to raise funds and have fun. The fire department held its Second Annual Night Golf Tournament Friday, July 3, at Crooked Creek Golf Course in Cordell.

Nine teams of four players each took to the course to enjoy good spirited competition among friends while helping raise money for the fire department.

Fire department spokesman Jason Dudgeon said the department hasn’t yet decided how they will use the money they raised this year. Last year’s fundraiser tournament money was used to purchase a new brush truck, six sets of bunker gear, and 11 refurbished air packs. Once everything is tallied and accounted, the department will decide how the money will be used.

Dudgeon thanked all of the participants and sponsors of this year’s golf tournament, and wanted to add a special note of appreciation to the wives of the fire department crew who worked overtime helping cook and prepare for the tournament. This year’s sponsors were Code Blue, Lone Tree, Misty Gossen/Farmers Insurance, CKenergy, First National Bank, Farmers Cooperative Exchange, Lindley Farm Equipment, Don Rodolph, Geisler Appraisals, Right Here C Store, Christian Ag, Sewell Brothers Construction, Great Plains National Bank, From Scratch Bakery, United, Western Welding, and Dallon Maddox Trucking.
