Internal financial discrepancies at city hall are going to be reported to the Washita County District Attorney’s office within the next few days, according to a report from the Cordell city attorney, Johnny Beech, during Monday’s city council meeting.
The council went into executive session during the meeting for “confidential communications between a public body and its attorney concerning a pending investigation, claim, or action...” After the executive session Beech reported that the council met with him and their outside accountant regarding what he called “discrepancies” in the city office. Those investigation into those discrepancies, he said, was ongoing and would involve both the district attorney’s office and the city’s bonding company within the next few days.
This is an ongoing story and more information will be reported as it becomes available.
