This past Tuesday, September 28, 4-H members from all over Washita County came to our annual awards banquet at the Cordell city park. The Burns Flat-Dill City Sr. 4-H club was well represented.
Our leader, Mrs. Mason was recognized as the outstanding senior club leader in Washita County, and because of her excellent leadership BF-DC Senior 4-H was also awarded outstanding Sr. club. Our club president, Kathryn Sirmon, received the champion Sr. speech award from the Washita county speech contest. Brance Barnett was recognized as a state officer and also received the outstanding Sr. 4-H Award.
At the awards banquet we also had a guest speaker Hunter Kelsey, who is currently the West District Vice President. Hunter came and gave a motivational speech. He came all the way from Grady County and when we needed help he wasn’t afraid to help hand out trophies and certificates and was the best help we could have asked for. Hunter is running for West District president, we wish him luck in his endeavors.
Many of our members helped with the presentations, decorations and especially the clean up. Dana Church, Washita County Educator, provided snacks that included a decorated cookie to honor Brance’s election to the Oklahoma State 4-H Leadership Council.
Thank you to the parents and supporters that took time to help us celebrate. We are celebrating National 4-H week, October 3-9.
