Bean & Ladle is teaming up with the Cordell Blessing Box this October to help local families put warm, easy-to-prepare meals on the table through a new “Crocktober” drive.
The effort will provide families in need with Crocktober bundles containing a crock pot, a box of slow cooker liners, and 10 meals prepared in gallon freezer bags that families can cook at home.
Organizers have set an initial goal of providing 20 local families with a crock pot and 10 meals each. They hope the effort will continue beyond October, allowing them to provide meals to families throughout the winter months.
Community members can support the drive in several ways, including donating new or gently used working crock pots with lids, unopened boxes of slow cooker liners, gallon freezer bags, or meal ingredients. We will release a meal supply list soon.
We are also accepting monetary donations and grocery store gift cards to help purchase meat and other ingredients needed to prepare the freezer meals. Those wishing to make a larger contribution may also sponsor a complete Crocktober bundle for a family.
Anyone interested in donating or helping sponsor a bundle can contact Bean & Ladle. Local families who could benefit from receiving a Crocktober bundle are encouraged to reach out privately as well.
Through the partnership, Bean & Ladle and the Cordell Blessing Box hope to bring the community together to care for its neighbors, one crock pot meal at a time.
