Area FFA Groups Participate In State Conference

Officers from the Cordell, Canute, and Burns Flat-Dill City FFA chapters participated in the 2019 Oklahoma FFA Chapter Officer Leadership Training Conference held in Lawton on Sept. 17, 2019.

The conference included attendees from 64 southwest Oklahoma high school FFA chapters. This year’s conference was centered around the theme of What’s Next, which challenged leaders to focus on anticipating potential problems instead of being forced to react as they occur.

“As a state officer team, we believe it is important to ask FFA members what’s next and challenge them to take the next step as anticipatory leaders,” said state FFA president Drew Hardaway. “I believe that is one of the reasons Oklahoma FFA leaders are always able to perform at such a high level, because we are constantly challenging them not only to be good leaders, but great ones.”

Cordell attendees included Brady Reimer, McKenna Wedel, Makenzie Hougland, Camryn Nickel, Cloie Banks, Danny Schmidt, and Tiffany Taton. Canute attendees included Brandon Sizemore, Jake Estes, Kylie Savage, Jacy Conner, Colt Randall, Dalton Williams, and Jeff Conner. Burns Flat-Dill City attendees included Jessica Briggs, Jordan Mason, Camryn Bond, Allie Dixon, Grace Schneberger, Autumn Collins, and David Layton.

The Chapter Officer Leadership Training is sponsored by the Public Service Company of Oklahoma and TC Energy as a special project of the Oklahoma FFA Foundation. There are nearly 27,000 Oklahoma FFA members in 365 high schools around the state.
