“The thought of any child waking up and not having a gift [on Christmas] and thinking that they’ve done something wrong is terrible. It kills me,” expressed Rachel Jones, owner of Wookies Tattoo & Body Piercing, with tears in her eyes. While there are tons of toy drives all over the county this time of year, this one is notably special. Wookies Tattoo & Body Piercing is known for their involvement with the community. Their generosity and want to help others is staggering. This year will be the 13th Christmas that Jones has organized her toy drive which had originated at her previous location in Mansville. After an inter view with Jones, it is no secret that she cares deeply for anyone and everyone. She strives to spread kindness and help those in need. “All the toys donated will stay in Cordell and go to kids and teens in need. However, if someone is in need and truly needs assistance, they can always come talk to me,” mentioned Jones. Toy donation rules and regulations are: toys need to be unwrapped, amount to $20 whether that is one single toy or multiple, and must have receipt for proof of purchase. Jones said a wide variety of items for kids and teens are perfect. Items can range from toys to makeup kits, perfume, nail polish, and personal and hygiene products.
Those who donate will receive a voucher for $50 off a tattoo amounting over $150 or 50% off a piercing (above the waist, no dermals) or in stock retail. Vouchers may be received in multiple but only used once per tattoo, piercing, etc. “I wanted to teach [my son] at a young age that there are other people out there that need more. I wanted to teach him to also respect and understand that Christmas is about giving, it’s not about receiving.” explained Jones. The deadline for the toy drive is Wednesday, Dec. 22nd at 7 p.m. Donations can be taken directly to Wookies Tattoo & Body Piercing. “People always ask how can they do this and where do they start? You just have to put forth the effort and time. I have plenty of time, especially to make some kid happy!” stated Jones.
If you know of a child or teen that is in need this Christmas contact their teacher, principal, or school counselor and let them know so that Wookies can contact the school.
