The Cordell Academic Foundation is a non-profit community organization which strives to make a difference in education through equitable distribution of contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations. The foundation offers grants to Cordell teachers to reward their suggestions that will expand existing curriculum.
This year’s Cordell Public School Academic Foundation Grant winners are: Morgen Trammell, LeeAnn Blackburn, Anna Hewitt, Allee Merrill, Jennifer Estes, Anna Feltman, Kodie Price, and Erin Baehler.
“The Cordell Academic Foundation Grant allowed me to purchase books and math manipulatives for my second grade classroom. The books are helping me create a classroom library for all students to enjoy,” said Kodie Price, second grade teacher. “The math manipulatives allow for our classroom to have hands-on learning for different lessons. My students and myself are truly grateful for all those who donate to the foundation so that this grant is possible.”
The grants help cover the cost of equipment and materials, field trips, online courses, and academic fairs.
“The Academic Foundation Grant was a good way for me to get handson materials for my students. I also used the grant to subscribe to education.com. This online education platform is a curriculum that covers core skills like math, reading, writing, English language arts, science, and more,” said Anna Hewitt, special education teacher for junior high and high school. “With this program, I can provide my student’s assignments on their individual skill levels that go along with their class or grade level.”
Grants are made possible by funds donated to the Cordell Public School Academic Foundation from the citizens of our local community.
“My grant was written for a variety of books to update my classroom library, Flocabulary, Storyworks, and BrainPop. Students have enjoyed new reading collections and the hands-on learning tools,” said Anna Feltman, third grade teacher. “The Cordell Academic Foundation is amazing at providing opportunities for teachers to improve their classroom.”
Your contribution will be used within Cordell Schools during the current year to expand the educational possibilities of the students. “The Cordell Academic Foundation has allowed me to purchases several sturdy, long lasting, play centers for my students to learn with. I am very thankful for the opportunity that the foundation has given me and my students,” said Morgen Trammell, pre-k teacher.
