Cordell is looking a lot brighter as the Christmas season approaches. Christmas decorations and lights can be seen all around town as the Christmas trees go up and festive banners are hung from the light poles around the square. The lights at Lee Park can be seen by all during the evening hours. “The Lions Club has done all the lights at the park. They did an amazing job and are greatly appreciated,” said Sarah Lau.
In the continuation of the long-established Christmas in the Park, the Cordell Chamber of Commerce has been working tirelessly in preparing for this year’s Country Christmas. Festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with a lighted parade and special appearance from Santa. Vendors, such as Main St. Boutique and Photography, will be present for all to enjoy and shop. Some vendors will be doing special giveaways.
The sidewalk chalk contest will begin at 6:30 p.m. for sixth grade and under. Chalk and supplies will be provided for participants. Cash prizes amounting to $150 will be split among first, second and third place winners. The winners of the sidewalk chalk contest will be announced at 7:30 p.m.
Starting at 7 p.m. the Chamber of Commerce is doing a free drawing. Make your way to the chamber table and get a ticket for a chance to win a turkey provided by United Supermarkets. Country Christmas in the park will conclude at 8 p.m.
Anyone who would like to participate in the lighted parade needs to meet at the Cordell Public Pool by 5:30 p.m. to prepare and line up. Enjoy a fun filled and festive evening for all ages. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be present throughout the event for pictures and visiting.
