Coach Taylor’s Soccer Notes For The Week

The high school soccer teams travelled to Oklahoma City to face Mount Saint Mary’s on Monday, March 9, in a district match.

The Lady Devils got down in the first half 2-0 but made an impressive comeback to tie the score at half 2-2. Erin Dudgeon scored the first goal for the Lady Devils and Renee Javorsky scored the equalizer. The Lady Devils had several opportunities in the second half but couldn’t find the back of the net. The Lady Rockets scored one goal in the second half to defeat the Lady Devils 3-2.

The Blue Devils ran into a very good Mount Saint Mary’s boys’ team and lost the match 10-0. The Blue Devils only had a couple of scoring opportunities but were unable to capitalize.

The teams travelled to Chickasha on Tuesday, March 10, for a non-district match.

The Lady Devils jumped on top of the Lady Chicks within the first minute of the match on a goal by Erin Dudgeon. The rest of the first half became a defensive battle between the two teams. The Lady Devils led the match at half 1-0. Chickasha tied the game up in the second half. Later in the half, Erin Dudgeon scored her second goal for the Lady Devils to take a 2-1 led. The Lady Chicks answered later in the half with a game tying goal. The game ended 2-2 and went directly to a shootout. The Lady Devils lost the shootout and lost the match 3-2.

The Blue Devils ran into a very good Chickasha team with a lot of experience. The Blue Devils were down at half 9-0. In the second half, the Blue Devils had a couple of shots on goal but were unable to find the back of the net. Chickasha scored a little later to win the match 10-0.

The JH teams were supposed to host Altus on Thursday, March 12, and the HS boys were supposed to host Star Spencer on that day but due to precautionary measures those games were suspended.

The HS teams were supposed to travel to OKC to face Harding Charter Prep on Friday, March 13th but Harding was closed on Friday and all activities were cancelled.
