Gwendolyn Annette Schmidt

Gwendolyn Annette Schmidt, 81, of Tipton, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 24, 2024, in Corn, Oklahoma.

She was born on December 24, 1942, to Orval Cecil and Anna (Sanderfield) Smith in Hobart, Oklahoma.

Gwendolyn grew up and attended school in Cordell, graduating from Cordell High School in 1960. In high school she was Valedictorian, made it to the state playoffs in basketball, and married her high school sweetheart, Gordon Keith Schmidt on December 28, 1959.

After high school Gwendolyn received her degree in Education. She taught English at Davis and taught Kindergarten and elementary level classes in Mountain View-Gotebo and various other school systems.

After retiring she worked for her son in Fort Worth. Gwendolyn enjoyed retirement with her husband, traveling to Texas, attending Christian and Country Concerts, and the grandkids sporting events.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include: Son: Kevin Schmidt & wife Rosanne, Tipton, OK; Grandchildren: Koltin Schmidt & Camille, Tuttle, OK, Kolby Schmidt & Emily, Chickasha, OK, Dillon Schmidt, Guthrie, OK, Abby Schmidt, Weatherford, OK, Jay Frymire & Brooke, Norman, OK, and Zachary Frymire & wife Jen, Thomas, OK. Great Grandchildren: Kaleb Schmidt, Emma Schmidt, Daniel Stuart, August Schmidt, Sawyer Schmidt, Henry Frymire, Eden Frymire, Scarlett Frymire, and Emma Frymire.

Preceded in death by her Parents: Orval and Anna Smith, Sons: Kelly Lynn Schmidt and Kris Wayne Schmidt.

Funeral: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2024, Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home, Hobart, Oklahoma. Interment: Hobart Rose Cemetery
