Betty D. Merrill, 91, of Cordell, passed away peacefully with family by her side on March 26, 2020, at the Cordell Christian Home. She was born on April 3, 1928, to Fred and Willie (Flowers) Crawford in Hydro.
Betty grew up and attended school in Colony. After graduation she attended Southwestern Oklahoma State College. She later moved to Oklahoma City to work while waiting for the love of her life to return from the Army. Betty married Buck Merrill on June 19, 1949, to this union was born five children: Tommy, Randy, Tim, LaDonna and Michele. In 1953, they moved to Cordell and opened Cordell Manufacturing.
Betty loved her family very much and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her five children: Tommy Merrill of Cordell, Randy Merrill and wife Kim of Oro
City, Ariz., Tim Merrill of Cordell, LaDonna Luedtke and husband John of Katy, Texas, and Michele Gregg and husband Lee of Cordell; 12 grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Willie Crawford; husband Buck Merrill and two brothers.
A graveside service was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 30, 2020, at Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell. Visitation was from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2020, at Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home in Cordell.
