Football season is almost here, and the Cordell Blue Devils are ready to kick things off with a night featuring elementary through high school players, cheerleaders, and plenty of pie.
The annual Pie Auction and Meet the Players will take place Friday, August 21, at 7:00 p.m. at the Cordell Football Stadium. Blue Devil fans are invited to fill the stands and meet the Cordell Blue Devil football players and cheerleaders. But fair warning: this isn’t your ordinary preseason introduction.
Pies will fly, and not necessarily the kind you want to eat.
During the annual pie auction, pies will be auctioned off for the opportunity to “pie” your favorite player/cheerleader. So, if there happens to be a Blue Devil you’ve always wanted to see wearing a face full of whipped cream, Friday night may finally be your chance.
All proceeds from the pie auction will benefit the Blue Devil football program and be used toward meals, equipment, and uniforms throughout the season.
With football players and cheerleaders taking center stage, the evening offers the community a chance to come together and show its support this fall season!
So grab the family, head to the Cordell Football Stadium and help pack the stands Friday night. Meet the athletes, support the Blue Devils, and watch a few brave players and cheerleaders take a pie to the face.
These Cordell football players will get to put their hard work to the test on Thursday, August 20, when the Blue Devils travel to Canton for a scrimmage against Canton and Beaver beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The preseason action continues the following week when Cordell scrimmages Sharon-Mutual on Friday, August 28, at 7:00 p.m.
Then, it’s time for the real deal.
The Blue Devils will officially kick off the 2026 varsity football season Friday, September 4, at 7:00 p.m., when they welcome Fox High School to Cordell Football Stadium for the season opener.
First come the pies. Then come the pads.
