Cordell Memorial Hospital (CMH) joins the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NORSORH) and other state/national rural stakeholders in celebrating National Rural Health Day on Thursday, November 18, 2021. NORSORH founded National Rural Health Day as a way to showcase rural America and increase the awareness of rural health-related challenges recognizing the efforts of those serving the health needs of an estimated 57 million people across the nation.

The 57 million people—nearly one in five Americans—live in rural and frontier communities throughout the United States. These small towns, farming communities and frontier areas are wonderful places to live and work; they are places where neighbors know each other and work together. The hospitals and providers serve these rural communities, serving our community to provide quality patient care.

I want to acknowledge on National Rural Health Day and every day the support of our local community, a community that has helped us become an even stronger organization dedicated to health, wellness and community service. We are proud of our heritage, our community and the personal relationships we are able to forge with patients and family members.

Rural communities have unique health care needs. Today more than ever, rural hospitals must address accessibility issues, a lack of health care providers, the needs for an aging population suffering from a greater number of chronic conditions, and larger percentages of uninsured and underinsured citizens.

In celebrating National Rural Health Day CMH had coloring contests with our local schools and you can see the wonderful results on our Facebook page. I also want to share with you that we are updating our website to provide you more information and to celebrate our care and our community.

For your health and wellness,

Melinda
