The Cordell High School Lady Blue Devil Basketball Team has a deep roster this year, one that will hopefully accomplish great things. The girls have already started training for the upcoming season under Head Coach Jana Rogers and Assistant Coach Gabby Parsons.

The team started practice on October 1, giving them a little over a month to shape up for their first game. The girls condition every weekday, spending their time in either the weight room or on the court. Rogers told The Beacon, practices have been very competitive, a result of the teams size and their familiarity with one an other.

The 2020-21 High School Lady Blue Devil Basketball Team consists of the following students: seniors, Evan Anderson, Andrea Palmer, Mckenzy Isbell, Lacey Burch; juniors, Kenlee Dodd, Bailey Troub, Renee Javorsky; sophomores, Piper Gallagher, Tristen Reimer, Kodi Rennison; and Freshmen, Ellie Willard, Kristen Trent, and Allee Brock. This lineup is filled with experienced players, most either starting or playing heavily last year.

This year the Lady Devils are looking to be a moving team, fully utilizing the depth of their roster. Rogers claims, “we are going to be aggressive, pressure the opponent, run em’ to death, and wear them down.” The girls are eager to get back into the game, and are willing to do whatever it takes to pull off a winning season.

According to their coach, as long as the team stays healthy, they will be very competitive this year. The girls will play their first game on December 1, against the Minco Bulldogs.

In other news, the Cordell Academic team went undefeated in their district competition, earning them the top seat in the district.
