Miss Washita County pageant now accepting contestants

Young ladies from across Washita County are invited to take the stage as registration is now open for the annual Miss Washita County Pageant, which will be held Saturday, Aug. 29, at 3:00 p.m. in the Cordell School Auditorium.

The pageant is open to girls ages 3 through 18 who reside in Washita County. Registration is available online at www.washitacountypageant.com, and the deadline to enter is Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 6:00 p.m.

Contestants will compete in one of five age divisions. Mini Miss, for ages 3-5, and Little Miss, for ages 6-8, will model pageant or party dresses and will not participate in interviews. Junior Miss contestants, ages 9-11, and Teen Miss contestants, ages 12-14, will wear formal or pageant attire and complete a five-minute interview with the judges. The Miss division, open to contestants ages 15-18, also includes an interview and offers a $500 college scholarship to the winner.

Interviews for the Junior Miss, Teen Miss and Miss divisions will be held the morning of Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Cordell School Auditorium. A contestant tea will be held at the New Beginnings Church, with a rehearsal for all contestants scheduled for 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28.

Queens in each division will receive a crown, sash, and bouquet. First and second runners-up will also be recognized with bouquets.

Organizers say the pageant is designed to promote confidence, leadership, and community involvement while providing participants with opportunities to form new friendships. Winners will represent Washita County at various events throughout the coming year.

Contestants must be female, unmarried, have never been pregnant, and be residents of Washita County. Age eligibility is determined by the contestant’s age on the day of the competition. Interview attire should be business professional or Sunday best, while stage attire should be age-appropriate pageant, party, or formal wear.
