A Message from Melinda Laird, CEO/CNO

July is here and we are halfway through the year!!! Christmas will be here before you know it and school starts in less than a month.

We are excited to be bringing you the Back to School Bash again this year. It will be August 5, two days before school starts and will be at the Washita Community Center from 9: 00a.m to 3:00p.m. There will be many of the same booths and we are adding hot dogs and the Surf Bar will also be joining us. We will have more information and our flyer out later this week, on our Facebook page and our website. If you have any questions, please contact us at CMH.

July is Self-Care month, and we encourage you to take care of yourself. UV Awareness during July is a good time to raise awareness that UV is the root cause of most skin cancers and encourages you to take precautions. This includes—seek shade when appropriate, wear sun-protective clothing and apply a broad-spectrum water- resistant sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.

Social wellness month, break out of your fixed routine and meet new people. Social wellness is all about your ability to bond with others and build satisfying relationships. The more people you meet, the more likely you are to develop new hobbies and embark on journeys.

Summer heart health during the summer is also important. It is crucial to stay hydrated, avoid overheating, and be mindful of your activity level and diet. Prioritizing to stay cool and this includes this time of high humidity. Consider indoor activities when temperatures and humidity are high.

It has been a cooler July than the past few years, but it is just as important to stay hydrated and take care of yourself.

WIC continues to be a part of the CMH Women’s Clinic. We want you to share and encourage anyone with needs to come receive benefits. This will continue the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 9am to Noon and 1pm until 4p. WIC will also be present at the CMH Back to School Bash.

This mid-year time is also when some or many of you are starting to receive calls, emails and mail information about Medicare, Medicare Adv, etc. We want to be here to help clear up confusion and help you make decisions that are best for you and your care. Please contact us with any questions, 580-8323339.

For your health and wellness,

Melinda
